A well-maintained, mostly tree-lined, paved trail which runs along the Dan River. Scenic and historic. Great for kids. Accessible from multiple points, portions of it are close to major roads and amenities. Restrooms near each trailhead. The paved path is designed for use by walkers, bikers, inline skaters, dog walkers and others. From this path, you can connect to woodland trails and facilities at Dan Daniel Memorial Park and Anglers Parks, the Carrington Pavilion, the Danville Science Center and historic downtown Danville. The Riverwalk and mountain bike trail systems host a myriad of trail events to include bike races, trail runs, charity walks, marathons, canine events and environmental education activities as well as park special events.
A 7.5 mile scenic pathway that follows the north bank of the Dan River. The trail passes through parks and by several bridges, one of which (an old restored railroad bridge) connects to historic downtown Danville (the last capital of the Confederate States of America after Richmond fell). I started my enjoyable walk in Dan Daniel Memorial Park and traveled west for almost two miles before returning. It is also a great trail for bird watching by the river. I saw lots of geese and ducks along the way.
Great walking trail with nice attractions in the science center area. Nice views along the Dan River, wildlife etc.
