The Motts Run Reservoir Trail is a public access trail with access to facilities, vending machines, canoes, a fishing peer, and boat ramp. No motorized boats on the lake. Trails are set up for hiking and running with many scenic areas and large hardwoods. Will soon feature Mountain Biking!
So romantic at around 9am. Very quiet and peaceful and not at all very crowded. The trails were actually pretty easy with a few steep hills. They are marked very well by color. The property also has many areas to sit and enjoy nature, it seems prefect for bird watchers.
Nice short trail.
I do nature programming at Mott's Run Reservoir so am familiar with the area. I also love hiking out there and do so regularly. The trails (4.5 miles) offer a nice variety of uphill and flatter areas with lovely views of the lake with wooden benches scattered throughout. It is generally a pretty quiet place but can occasionally get busy on weekends or holidays. While the park is open to the public only April 1-October 31 folks may park outside the gate as long as they DO NOT block it and walk in.
Went for a trail run here, and it wasn't to bad. Nothing too extreme so nice overall. I hear FATMUG is going to construct a 12 mile mountain biking trail here so I am stoked for that and will leave a much improved review after ripping that up.
Great fishing spot and boats are only $15 to rent for 2 hours. Lots of trails up in the hills beside the water if you get tired of fishing. I have caught pretty large catfish and a few small bass here.
Drats! Park is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. :(
Definitely a workout! I would not recommend Laurel Trail to bank fishing unless you want to get hit with branches, narrow path, and I went through every spider web there was :-) I still enjoyed this hike very much and I would definitely recommend it.
Loved it. Several very steep areas that are a great work out and break up the trail a bit. Wonderful views of the Reservoir along the way.
