James River, Upper Section is a loop trail located near Lynchburg, Virginia and is only recommended for very experienced adventurers. The trail is primarily used for walking, fly fishing, and road biking and is accessible from May until November.
This is part of the James River Heritage Trail System, an extensive connection of greenways around Lynchburg. I parked at Hollins Mill Park and walked the Point of Honor Trail to the Riverwalk Trail, which took me through downtown Lynchburg along the river for several blocks and eventually across an old converted railroad bridge to Percival's Island Natural Area. It was a very enjoyable 4.4 mile out and back trip.
Another beautiful ride on a beautiful day.
Hopefully we took the right route. We went about the right millage on our route and had a nice ride.
Could be a nice walk. Not a hike for me.
