Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Scenic Drive is a 19.2 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Virginia Beach, Virginia that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for scenic driving and is accessible year-round.
One of my all time favorites, especially in the fall.
I never tire of this man made wonder. And it leads to the Eastern Shore where life slows down just a notch and people still great each other. Although traffic can be murder at times, most of the time it is moderate.
Nice drive and beautiful views... Makes me want to get a boat and fishing pole immediately! Stopped at the rest stop about half-way through and did some geocaching with my lovely wife and took a stroll on the fishing pier. Looks like a lot of people enjoy the fishing here. But if you are headed this way, take a ride over the bridge/tunnel. It is worth the $12.00 toll just for the great views and smell of the water....
My favorite way to get from northern New Jersey to Virginia Beach, the Outer Banks, etc. OK, Rte 13 can be hard to take, and I-64 may be faster - really not so much - but you can't see much from an Interstate. Besides, the Bridge-Tunnel is unique, and it's interesting, with scenery that makes the 23 miles seem much shorter. If you cross when one or more of the big Navy Ships is coming/going, it can be amazing!
