This is one of three hikes in the Virginia Peninsula Audubon bundle - a hidden area on the Virginia peninsula! This is one of the unique finds, a small preserve that is seldom published. The preserve has some nice water views and is a historic supply route for sailboats from offshore. Very easy walking with several places to have a quiet lunch, you'll have the entire trail to yourself and the birds.
I did this about 3 years ago and never logged it. This trail is easier to hike than to find. There is a sign out by the main road but you really have to watch for it. It is a nice wooded trail down to the water. Then it continues along the water. Be prepared for bugs in season.
Nice little hike! Takes about 45 min. Trails are covered in leaves like everything else but clear enough to see.
bring a stick to knock down all the spiderwebs in your way, or you might get trapped and eaten. not going again.
A nice wooded trail that come out to the stream and wetlands. Once you get near the end, the trail runs along the water for a ways. The blowdown from the storm three weeks ago had not been cleaned up but that is the price of a beautiful uninhabited trail.
Beautiful forest and all trail lead to Bush Mill Stream and wetlands overlooks. The trails are a little primitive but well blazed and hard to get lost.
5 stars for the quietness.
