Unique riverside walk through Bluebell Island Preserve to the Sugar Hill Trail System in St. Paul, Virginia Approximately 2-mile hike through both a picturesque floodplain forming a preserve along the Clinch River and idyllic downtown St. Paul, Virginia. This unique trail connects the Bluebell Island Preserve with the Sugar Hill Trail System just outside St. Paul, passing through downtown along the way. This forms one of the only trails that directly follows the Clinch River - one of North America's most biodiverse rivers - along the waterway's entire route. A much longer hike may be produced by piecing together trails at the Sugar Hill Trail system, located at the trail's western terminus. One beautiful, 8-mile out-and-back can be created by hiking this trail to its western terminus and then following the Riverside Trail several additional miles to St. Paul Falls (see linked guide on this map's POI).
