Ann Messick Trail is a 0.7 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Lancaster, Virginia that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

I liked this trail. The drop is very steep but once you get by that it is easy into the boardwalk and then the beaver pond. I thought the beaver pond was cool even though small. There are benches on the viewing platform.
A nice adventure. This trail is a loop, not a point to point as shown on the nature preserve map. The trail is poorly marked in sections. It goes down a very steep hill and takes a boardwalk out to a small beaver pond not much bigger than a dining room table. Then you go back up by a long gentle climb along a creek. The trail is yellow blazed where you find them.
