off road driving
Nate's review is for Hell Hole Canyon, a different place (and a hike, not drive) in Kayenta.
It hard to climb on dirt at the close to tv and cellphone tower. All the off road is nice till closet is become hard recommend UTV, ATV and not doing my new jeep trailhawks
My friend showed me this trail while in high school. Its actually just out behind Kayenta. I think its more well known for the canyon area during heavy rain or snow. Ice falls can form in winter on the red canyon walls. and showers and a minor flash flood can happen when it rains. But at the end of the canyon is a drop hole about 30 ft deep or so, but cool to look down into. Is a day hike that takes only an hour if rushed.
You can make it in a vehicle with clearance. It was steep at times and the road has suffered from wash outs and slides, but all in all, it was fun with amazing scenery.
Great panoramic view at the top! Just spectacular. Not a super challenging drive, you'll need 4wd, but we made it up with a stock Ford Explorer - and the trail was mostly covered with snow - I would say most 4wds with any sort of ground clearance can make the journey. The trail is pretty steep at times, with some sharp switchbacks, but if you've done any 4-wheeling, you'll be fine. Have fun!
