We had a fun trip today running this trail. We had two modified Jeep Rubicons and the only tough part was climbing the hill. It took us both a couple of tries to make it up but we did without too much trouble.
The rest of the trail was long but pretty easy. It was a beautiful trail and we all had fun.
The Cottonwood Trail starts at the end of the Onion Creek trail at the sign for the Taylor Ranch. This popular and very long off-road Jeep trail is very difficult. Rose Garden Hill is the single obstacle on this trail. It is a long, rocky and challenging hill that will turn away many stock 4x4 vehicles. We did this Jeep trail not knowing its reputation. When we got to the bottom of Rose hill and looked up, we were a little intimidated. But we said, let's give it a try. So we had to rebuild/level the trail almost every 10 feet up the rocky hill. Once we made it to the top, we found the trail to be washed out and way beyond our capacity. So our plan to make this excursion into a loop trip was foiled. We turned around and headed back down Rose Hill, and back to Moab. What an exhilarating Jeep trip!
