Great beginner trail in the Moab area! My wife and I had not been on bikes in a while and we really wanted to do the slickrock trail but based on our current fitness and skill level, we opted for Monitor and Merrimac. We rode this in a counter-clockwise direction. The first half is all climbing, but aside from a few sandy sections that needed to be walked, it was all on fast, grippy slickrock. Once you get to the area where it opens up to the right, DON'T TURN RIGHT! That is the shortcut that cuts out all of the fun downhill stuff. Look up in the distance and there is another big rock formation. You want to go up and around that. Once you get around that rock formation it's pretty much all downhill from there! So fun! Once you get nearly back to the trailhead you end up going through a bit of a creek bottom. We were VERY happy we were going downhill through this point rather than clockwise and uphill as it is VERY sandy. This is an awesome trail and we have written a little more detail and have more pictures and video on our blog which I have attached the link. Go check it out!
