An easy walk out to an arch perched right on a cliff edge. A great sunrise hike in Canyonlands National Park with great views. The Island in the Sky mesa rests on sheer sandstone cliffs over 1,000 feet above the surrounding terrain. Every overlook offers a different perspective on Canyonlands' spectacular landscape. The Island is the easiest district to visit in a short period of time, offering many pullouts with spectacular views along the paved scenic drive. Hiking trails and four-wheel-drive roads access backcountry areas for day or overnight trips. Mesa Arch Trail is easy and offers great views from the arch perched right on a cliff edge. A great sunrise hike. Start: Mesa Arch parking area Time: 30 minutes
Birthday trip to Moab in late Oct. We got here early to watch the sunrise and found roughly 50 others with the same plan, some were better equipped photographers, others were just there to take in the view like we were. Please be courteous of others and realize everyone is there for the same reason. The trail is very short and rewards you with a grand vista, the arch itself is really just a neat feature to look through. We got to the parking lot about 20 minutes before sunrise and it was full except for some spots close to the road.
short trail with no pressure but final point is awesome, keep warm clothe with you as there is very windy
Beautiful arch that I went for sunrise. It was an easy hike that is worth while
Super short and easy hike to a gorgeous viewpoint. A must see if you are in Canyonland. Stay on the trail though, the soil off trail in this whole park is quite precious to the ecosystem. If you don't believe me, see the display in the information center at the main entrance to the park.
Beautiful views across the island in the sky
Very short and easy hike to an amazing overlook. But also very popular.
Very easy hike, only been here very early in the morning (2x) wasn't even aware it was a loop actually. unless this is something new in the last 4 years? Great photo op, but like some ops, it has become Extremely busy expect big crowds :(
Went last Fall with two of my kids. Super short walk to a fantastic view. A tour bus showed up the same time we did. It was sad to see people hastily trample the cryptosporidium soil that they inform you takes over a hundred years to form and a second to destroy. Please stay on the path and respect nature.
