A beautiful, peaceful autumn hike. The right amount of difficult with beautiful payoffs along the way.
Fun new hike! Gorgeous views along the way and not overly steep. Nice creek along some spots for the dogs. The trail was fairly muddy so hiking poles were helpful while coming back down. Long pants would be helpful to prevent your legs from getting scratched up. A ways before the cabin the trail gets snow covered it's somewhat difficult to be sure you're headed the right way but we made it!
This trail is 4.4 miles each way, not total. It's pretty steep the entire way. As others have mentioned it is a little buggy. There are great views and the surroundings are beautiful. There is a little old cabin that's pretty cool (but also creepy). After you pass the cabin it is downhill for a little bit. The hardest part for me was coming back down because it's just barely too steep the whole way. My toes are sad now. Right now I have no desire to go again, but maybe I will after some time has gone by.
Great for solitude but full of bugs right now. Lots of flies and Yellowjackets. I'm going to try it again in a month or two when there are fewer buzzing things. Beautiful views and very steep. Only saw two people at the base of the hike; otherwise not a soul.
Bush whack almost the entire way up hill... wear pants.
Nice, gentle, and quiet. The mining cabin and tailing pile is fun.
If you like being alone this is the place to go. I didn't see a single soul.
Great training hike for longer tougher hikes. Did this to prep for the Rim to Rim. Some great views in the Fall. would like to find the cabin that is up there.
This hike is beautiful and totally worth it! However, it is basically uphill the whole way. Also, I wish I would have worn pants because the trail is overgrown in different places and the bushes can be scratchy!
Beautiful views. Not too many (none) on the trail. Nice leg and butt workout.
This is a 4.4 mile out and back trail with a 2300 ft elevation gain if you take it all the way out to the abandoned old miner's cabin. Steep, challenging, beautiful, and fun with almost total solitude. I love this hike, but you have to steel yourself before you begin that it's going to be a climb. Took me about 2 hours and 20 minutes today and did not encounter any major snow. It has taken me longer in the past at a slower pace with some photo ops and stops included.
Great trail. Beautiful view of the other side of the canyon.
Does anybody have the GPS coordinates for the cabin or the plane crash site?
This is a great trail to get your heart rate up. It was extremely overgrown but still manageable just wear pants and don't bring the little ones.
Hiked this trial to log a geocache at the top of the ridge. A beautiful hike. Trails were great the entire way up, but a few spots were quite muddy, but manageable. Will be on this trail again.
