Johnson Canyon Trail is a 1.7 mile out and back trail located near Ivins, UT and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from November until March.
Fun, easy walk with the parents and grandparents. The arch is cool to see. Lots of people out and about this Thanksgiving weekend. It was unfortunate to see a few people disregarding the rules (dogs, walking off the path, breaking branches or throwing rocks). Please respect the landscape.
Took us about an hour there and back.
Love the red rock. Wanted desperately to go off trail and explore. Worth the heat!
Trail was open as of 9/13/16. Easy hike, neat geology. Standing amidst the towering rocks in the back of the quiet canyon was wonderful and cool. Red rocks, cottonwoods in the creek bed, canyon wrens laughing at me. Worth a walk for sure.
Trail closed at Johnson Canyon/Scout Cave Junction until October
this trail is only open about half of the year. when it is open, be sure to check it out. It is a nice break from the heat and has a variety of terrain.
Occasionally there may be water back in the canyon which enhances the beauty.
Some nice views. Quick out and back.
A fun, easy, short trail to the largest (200') arch in the St George area. Great for kids!
Nice views throughout the hike. Can become fairly crowded on weekends. Good for anyone looking for a relaxing and easy hike.
Great hike for kids and those looking for something quick. Beautiful views of the canyon walls!
This was a beautiful hike. There were two adults and four kids (2, five year olds and 2, 1 year olds in packs). We hiked it on January 31, 2015. It was easy for everyone. We hiked about .25 miles past the arch to the end of the canyon and had fun playing in the sand and climbing on the rocks. Fun hike. I would recommend it.
Easy for kids.
beautiful hike, it's very kid friendly and a easy trail to follow. great for a morning hike!
Lovely hike into the canyon. You'll cross lava beds which are uniquely interesting. Approaching the red cliffs, the view changes often and is always beautiful. If you're quiet you can hear croaking toads in the small amounts of water below the trail. Quite enjoyable.
fantastic short hike. TONS of people there this weekend. Multiple arches, springs and dramatic cliff faces.
This trail was really beautiful and easy enough our kids, under 8 were able to do it. It dead ends in a canyon and it's really cool. Well worth the drive out to it.
wow! that was a cool hike.
Nice easy hike. Follows beautiful red rock into the canyon with a small stream running down
Nice easy hike. Took my two young boys an they area hooked on hiking.
