Joan Lake Trail is a 0.6 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Kamas, UT that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from July until September.
If you want to check out Joan Lake you will have to pick your way up an extremely steep hill through loose rock, sand and deadfall timber. There is no trail, and you'll have to choose your route carefully to avoid several sizable cliffs.
Hiked up to the Lake from Echo lake met some hikers that came over Murdock Mountain and didn't know that it was much closer from Echo.
We turned our Joan Lake hike into a loop that started at Pyramid, then Echo, Joan, Gem and back to Echo. It was a great hike. Once into the wilderness and away from the dirt road it was a beautiful and solitary place. Peaceful with a lot of wild life living in the area. Great views above Echo and good fishing at the lakes.
