Escalante River is a 90 mile point-to-point trail located near Escalante, UT that features a river. The trail is primarily used for hiking, fly fishing, and whitewater kayaking.
Did a little section below lower Calf Creek. Crossed the river several times and some nice scenic views.
We hiked from the Hwy 12 bridge (near Upper Calf Creek TH) to Death Hollow and back. It's about 7 one way. The trail is very easy but is almost entirely loose/hardpack sand. It's not hard to loose the trail but if you stick to the river you should see where other people have trekked. It took us 4 hours to reach the confluence and we were all beginners with 30lb packs. You end up crossing the river NUMEROUS times so bring shoes that dry quickly otherwise your feet will be wet the entire time. No shortage of water anywhere (late May) and the dog had a blast as well.
