Tejas Trail is located near Salt Flat, TX. The trail is primarily used for hiking.
Trail is the most direct connection between Pine Spring and Dog Canyon. Trail is not the roughest in the park but is not easy either. Gets rocky and steep in some areas. Great views, don't expect any water in the river beds, at least not while i was there in the spring. Lost peak is located on the Dog Canyon side of the trail. It also has a few different back country campsites along it.
Hiked this trail on Jan. 6th, 2015 as a "warm up" to summiting Guadalupe Peak on the 7th. I saw a few Mule Deer on the way up. Camped at Pine Top campground and had the entire place to myself. It was WONDERFUL! Lots of big trees and pine needles galore to use as a "pad" of which I pitched my tent upon!
