Wilderness trek with some good elevation on the hike! Nice wilderness hike on a dirt/gravel/vegetation trail. The hike has scenic overlooks of the river below. Entrance fee to state park is $4.00.
This review is for the actual Spicewood Springs trail in Colorado Bend State Park. It was well worth coming back to the park to do this (these) trails. I would recommend starting at the Spicewood Canyon point and take that all the way to the end. Then loop back using the Spicewood Springs route. You will cross the water a few times and if the water is high...you might get your feet wet. Bring a spare pair of socks...maybe even a second pair of shoes. There is also an area to swim at the turn around point. Wish I brought some shorts and a towel.
Very hot if you go during the summer, the spring pool is amazing. I'm looking forward to going after it cools down so I can explore more.
added this onto the spicewood springs trail.Made for a nice way back to the starting point.
enjoyed the challenge of water crossings and very varied terrain.
Horrible! Took me to the middle of nowhere! Wasted an hour of my life just to drive to BFE!
this is actually in Colorado Creek state park. no dice at the address listed
How do I get into the trail ? It just took me to a gate
There was just a gate no signs no way in this needs to be updated
Great mostly shaded trail in Colorado Bend SP.
This is a really great beginner trail with lots of different terrain to adjust to. Always something to look at on this trail and the water crossings are never too deep. Me and my husky puppy love it!
The trail was extremely hot in the middle of the day so take plenty of water. There is a few places that require climbing over rocks and it crosses the springs a few times. Overall an excellent hike with some great views up on top of the canyon wall. I will be back for this trail.
got here and the gate is closed but not locked.... not sure if I should go in or not.
Just a great place. Colorado Bend State Park
Absolutely beautiful! Great view of Spicewood Creek and a nice variety of forest types from riparian to dry oak-juniper. Lots of Golden-cheeked Warblers to be seen and heard as well.
