Loop trail along in the 21-acre Mayfield Nature Preserve grounds with serene walking trails & a wildlife habitat with free-roaming peacocks. The Mayfield-Gutsch Estate is a historic home and park grounds in west Austin, Texas near the shores of Lake Austin. Originally built in the 1870s, the cottage was purchased by former Texas Secretary of State Allison Mayfield in 1909.

Nice little walk about 1.25 miles. More hills that what I thought there would be which was a nice surprise.

Short, Sweet and Easy. It's not really a hike, but rather a good sight-seeing destination. Mayfield Preserve is an old estate that backs up to a small cove off the Colorado River. The property connects with the Laguna Gloria Art Museum which has a sculpture garden. You could couple these two stops with the nearby Mt Bonnell lookout point, and altogether you would get some real exercise as well as checking off a couple of boxes on your Austin Bucket List.

Awesome. The peacocks and cottage are beautiful. The Trails are all intertwined so you can walk around for a hour or two.

Super simple with loads of shade. Lots of peacocks wandering around. Different trails lead to about the same place. We came out into a contemporary art area...not complaining about that. Just a short walk back to the parking/hiking areas.

This is a great simple trail for small children. My two year old is confident here and seeing the peacocks is an added bonus.
