Paint Gap Road is a 7.6 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Big Bend National Park, Texas that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Short route to Dripping Spring Ranch The first 2.5 miles or so can be driven with a passenger car. The last part is through Paint Gap, and is fairly rocky and narrow.
This short drive takes you to an early ranching effort in the Big Bend. Remnants of stock pens, a water well and trough still exist at this site.
The first couple of miles off the main highway can be driven with a passenger car. However, the road gets narrow and rocky as you go into the Paint Gap. You will get desert striping (scratches) on the last mile and a half.
