There are two trails; when you enter the area (parking lot), the trail to the left is a dirt trail. The trail to the right is paved. They are both good walking trails, both have a lot of trees, both lead to creeks, and they are both a big circle. You won't get lost here. The dirt trail has a bench, a bat box and leads to a body of water (The Trinity) and creek. The paved trail has a structure , like a platform with stairs. Not sure what it's supposed to be but I always climb it and look around. It also has a nice, covered picnic area. As with any natural area, especially around water, you will need to saturate yourself with some good mosquito spray. I suggest wearing hiking or snake boots, and take water. The dirt trail gets real muddy along the creek area. Dogs are not allowed on the trails, which is really nice (not to step in dog poo or smell it). The bathrooms are fairly close, they are located by the ball field (that you pass when you enter the park). Critters I have seen here: Ducks, Herons, Armadillos, Squirrels, Birds (including Eagles), Butterflies, Rabbits/ Jack rabbits. I've been to these trails many times over the years, it's one of my favorite places for a nature walk. If you drive up Sandy Lake just a short ways, there's a place to rent Kayaks/Canoes to go down the Trinity. If you go in the Spring, you will see quite a few wildflowers & butterflies. I guess I've always gone at the right time, as it has always been quite. The Dimension Tract is a secluded thirty-eight acre parcel of undeveloped land along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. The natural parkland features a 14-acre pond, 3.5 acres of wetlands, 9 acres of river bottom timber and a blanket of native vegetation on the remaining 11.5 acres. This property has a canoe and kayak launch on-site on the Trinity River.

Short, rustic (not paved) trail. Easy walk, well maintained.
Yes you can hear the highway but if you take your time you can also hear the wildlife.
I enjoy that it is close and easy for a quick hour in the 'woods'
It's also a great trail for the young beginner.
I enjoy it often.

It was a nice amble. Saw a woodpecker, armadillo and herons. Lots of background noise from the soccer fields, gun range, and highway.

The trail was okay, really short though. I highly doubt you would see any poisonous snakes on the trail, although there were many sign warning you about them...venomous maybe.

This was a very easy trail No challenges. It was very quiet lots of birds to view. Kind disturbing that there were so many signs saying watch for poisonous snakes. I would do this trail again, It took about an hour; Wish it was longer.

Short, but interesting trail into a mature woodland with bottom land species mixed within a few glades. Good variety of wildlife.
