Dinosaur Valley State Park Trail is a 2.4 mile loop trail located near Glen Rose, TX that offers scenic views. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking, walking, and mountain biking.
The Paluxy River runs through the middle of the park which makes the season you go a big factor. All roads and primitive campsites are on the western side of the river with a few trails. Most of the good trails are on the eastern side of the river making crossing it a requirement at least twice. We enjoy crossing at the southern junction and then hiking the Paluxy River Trail up river. This allows us to wade/swim the river back down to the original crossing point when we are done with the PRT. Great trail for water dogs!
Not bad for a short day hike and close to home. If you live in DFW it is worth the short trip there.
Loved this hike, plan to go back soon and spend more time. The water crossings are beautiful. The hills provide an excellent view of the area on a clear day. I only completed about 4 of the 7 mile loop as I ran out of daylight.
Looking forward to going again soon!
Fun trail with lots of miles to ride, make sure you grab a map at the entrance to the park because there are lots of different loops. Pretty rugged and has several areas where some riders will have to carry their bike. Lots of fun but not for the beginner
Great trails and rugged. Great scenery and wildlife.
