An 883-acre State Park with great views and a unique location on the confluence of the Collins and Caney Fork rivers. The park grounds include a lush forest, a sandy beach, and an imposing limestone gorge. Lots of waterfalls and overlooks throughout! Pretty easy out and back trail with plenty of views. Be careful with kids or people not used to balancing. The trail can get narrow in spots. Rock hopping on the river can be very fun but gets pretty dangerous. There is more to this trail and other trails not shown on the map link included. Warning! Always use caution in the gorge. Water may rise rapidly. Monitor your surroundings. Leave the gorge immediately if water begins to rise or you hear warning sirens. Watch for slick rocks & swift currents. Do NOT jump into water of unknown depths. Swimming or wading is not allowed in all areas from TVAs powerhouse downstream all the way down to the main beach boat ramp including by the powerhouse, Twin Falls and Blue Hole due to hidden and deadly currents.
Great water falls. First you should stop and ask questions before going into these trails. Twin falls is close to the parking lot but you can hike the small trail next to it called downstream trail that has a great view at the Falls and river and the Little falls. Enjoy.
This was a beautiful area to walk in. There are more falls in this area than anywhere else I have ever seen.
Huge gorgeous waterfall!
My daughter, friend, dog and I did this hike today. Had a great time. My little 17lb dog was done by the time we finished. We had a nice piknick in the cave at the little falls.
Great trail for exploring the gorge.
We loved this trail, beautiful waterfall and hike. Perfect for our 3 and 6 year olds!
Me and wife did this today. had a blast. will say going all the way down to the bottom was a challenge because the trail was washed away in places and PS look out for snakes.
Love it! Beautiful sites to see!
Absolutely beautiful! Nice trails and awesome falls. Beach is really nice too. Will def go again!
Great swimming holes
I was more excited about the downstream trail. gorgeous, actually took breath away. The GPS directions took me the wrong way. go to the end of powerhouse drive, it takes you right to it.
The Upstream Trail is fun and quick and gives you great access to some sweet swimming holes. However, if you want to really enjoy the falls, take the downstream gorge trail - listed on the Rock Island State Park Hiking Trail Brochure that you can pick up at the Ranger Office. Its a 1.6 lollipop trial that provides you with may vantage points to check out the incredible rock face falls across the Caney Fork River. Beware of the insane amount of spider webs along the trail.
Pretty fun and quick out and back trail. We enjoyed the area a lot with plenty of views and great waterfall shots. Be cautious when rock hopping or walking on some of the narrow trails. This area can be very slippery! Love it and will return to complete some of the other trails.
