This trail follows the Cumberland Trail in Prentice Cooper Wildlife Management Area just outside of Chattanooga, TN. The trail is mostly shaded taking you along a route following the natural terrain features from Indian Rockhouse to Snooper's Rock with a couple of small water crossings and numerous rock formations. At Snooper's Rock, you will be treated to one of the best views of the Tennessee River Gorge. This is a peaceful walk in the woods with a few short climbs.
Beautiful scenery with a breathtaking view
Little bit of a drive down the gravel road in prentice cooper park but a short walk down road to trail head which wasn't hard and a good view.
Great Hike on awesome day. Out and back to snoopers w Hannah!! Great view!
Don't get lost ended up going from a 10 mile to a 25 mile loop
Parked at Cumberland Trail Parking lot and had a moderate hike to Snoopers Rock. Nice overlook views along the way and Snoopers Rock was beautiful. It rained on us so we plan to go back.
We parked one car at the Cumberland Trail parking lot and another at the top where Tower Drive is by a kiosk that was about .3 miles to Snoopers Rock. Great hike. We started from the Cumberland lot, passed the Indian rockhouse and walked to snoopers rock and it was about 4 miles from lot to lot. Beautiful views along the way and creeks or river views and falls follow you almost the whole way. My three year old did great with it too. Great place about half way to eat lunch. About 2 miles in, make sure you turn right and go up the stairs rather than straight.
It's a pretty moderate hike that has many beautiful views. Now, it's one of my favorite spots to go!
Nice clean trail. With great views
Was a great hike. Had some pretty streams and small waterfalls to look at. The trail had several scenic overlooks that were beautiful. Trails are well marked and well maintained. Defiantly had some strenuous hills, but not too difficult. Would defiantly go again.
Sunrises are the best, especially on a foggy morning! You can park very close, not a rough ride, but a little ground clearance is recommended.
Great day hike. Wonderful view from over look. Not too strenuous. Follows signs for prentis cooper to Cumberland parking lot
The trail from the Cumberland Trail Parking Lot through Indian Rock House to Snooper's Rock is an awesome trek through natural rock formations and Tennessee wilderness, with the breathtaking views of Tennessee River Canyon at its climax at Snooper's Rock. The cliff is an excellent spot to break for lunch, meditate, stretch and recharge. Then, take Tower Road back for an abbreviated version, head back in the direction you came or go conquer the second half of the Mullins Cove Loop. You can't go wrong with this trail.
Be on the lookout for loose rocks/footing at stream crossings, poison ivy and in the summer months brush obstructions in the trail. Other than that, solid trail with a huge payoff at Snooper's Rock.
