Look Rock Tower Trail is a 0.9 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Maryville, Tennessee that offers scenic views and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
Hike from the Foothills Parkway to the Look Rock Tower (observation). The trail has a moderate elevation gain from the trail head to the observation tower. You will pass an air quality monitoring station along the way to the tower. The Look Rock Tower is a concrete observation tower that allows excellent views of the western side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Easy trail with awesome views
This is not a bad hike, just not fair to rate it higher than 3 stars considering other places that give more rewarding experiences. The hike is short and definitely kid friendly. The views from the tower are the highest on the Foothills Parkway. At the end of it all you are on a man made structure and that makes it less of a hiking experience to me. I would recommend this for a quick morning or evening stroll if you are in the area.
This is just a paved trail to the tower. It's an easy short hike with a spectacular view from the tower.
Pretty steep on the way up to the tower. The views were nice, but we were there on an overcast day just before a storm.
It was a beautiful short hike. There a few trails off to the side that weren't paved and where very nice. However the view was mostly the same and it was a very boring hike.
This is a family friendly little hike. I've been hiking up to the lookout tower since I was little. It is paved so it's great for strollers and small children. The views from the tower are amazing!
