Lead Cove Trail is a 3.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Townsend, Tennessee that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Horses are also able to use this trail.
This was part of a large loop I hiked. It is up for 1.8 miles. The good thing is it is covered almost the whole way so the sun doesn't get you. There are a couple of nice views when you get close to the top. Some good rhododendron tunnels. But it is up and only up. Good thing is it is not as rocky of some of the other horse trails.
If you hike up from Laurel Creek Road, you're in for quite the climb. You can connect and go down by using Finley Cove to Bote Mountain.
