Easily assessable park located along the Holston River in Hawkins County TN. Playground, tennis and basketball courts, softball fields, a 1-mile paved walking path, hiking trails and a boat ramp. The park is free, open year round, except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Laurel Run Trail is 2 miles out and then back for a total of 4 miles. There are three water falls around the one mile mark although many never see the third and largest fall because it is off the beaten path by about 50 feet and hidden in rhododendrons. Although most hikers stop at the second water fall and turn back, the trail goes for another mile until it connects to Kiner Hollow Trail. In fact, you can take Kiner Hollow to Back Hollow Road and hike all the way to Nature Center at Bay's Mountain Park in Kingsport, Tennessee for a 12 mile round trip. If you have a map of Bay's Mountain you can see Laurel Run Park all the way to the east side of the map and the Laurel Run Trail is marked on the Bay's Mountain Park Map. Along the way to Bay's Mountain Park there are plenty of abandoned log cabins to view.
