great hike. we hiked whole loop and followed the trail the whole time, it clocked us at 12.4 miles.
there was long incline for at least hour or more up hill all the way, once we reached top it flattened for just a while before going down hill. the down hill was like walking in river bed, alot of rocks.
This was part of a larger loop we did. Very nice trail. Nice views and the canopy keeps you out of the sun in the summer. Great for the family vacationing in the area or for anyone wanting to get out on a moderate/easy hike to enjoy the outdoors.
My wife and I recently hiked this trail and we both enjoyed it. It was easy with no steep sections. Would enjoy this as a hike from any direction you want to go.
We did this hike in May of 2012. We added 3.2 more miles by hiking the Crib Gap trail along with this hike. There was some nice areas and we ended up seeing two bears. One was on Crib Gap and the other on Turkey Pen. There was very little elevation change throughout the hike and we would rate it as moderate.

This trail is really nice. Not steep, just enough ups and downs to enjoy. I've done this trail in the Fall and Springtime. It is a nice trail if you are just getting started with hiking, Good amount of miles, but not demanding.
