Prairie Trail is a 3 mile loop trail located near Fairburn, South Dakota and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from April until October.
Quick and easy. It's a nice mix of prairie and wooded areas with a small creek. You do have to slide yourself through a fence at a couple points, which seemed odd.
Nice trail, with some good climbs, creek crossings, and great views. If you are wanting a quick hike, this one fits the bill.
Beautiful scenery and lovely flowers.
Overgrown, poorly designed trail that spent more time in thick brush by the creek than in the prairie.
Located off the Wildlife Loop Road in the heart of Custer State Park, this 3 mile trail is a beautiful walk through prairie grasses and along bubbling springs. I did this hike with my wife and 3 kids, ages 6-9. Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and a picnic lunch.
