Falling Rock Trail is a 0.3 mile out and back trail located near Rapid City, SD. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking.
the trail itself is well maintained but ridiculously short. fantastic view of Rapid Creek from the cliff
super short but the view is beautiful.
Beautiful views. Not really a trail. Not worth it because of the person who owns the land just past this "trail".
This trail leads to a great view of Rapid Creek flowing through the canyon below. The trail can be walked by most people of all ages, but please be aware that the ledges are extremely dangerous. I have heard that a young person fell and passed a few years ago so please control your children around the edges. This is within the Black Hills National Forest so please clean up after yourselves. Also lock your cars when you start your hike. Park Rangers have informed me that local dysfunctional youth have been known to do dumb things up here due to the closeness to the city. This is one of the closest escapes for them. Other than that the hike is great. At the beginning of the road is a small trail to anchor points for rappelling.
