Belle Fourche Trail is a 2.4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Belle Fourche, South Dakota that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking and trail running and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This is not a trail. It is a side walk that goes though town. The first half is not accessible because the sidewalk fell into the river and has not been fixed in over a year. At the end, it just stops so I walked though where it lead me (the slums of Belle Fourche) and then went back. It is not meant for horses, which it says in the description. It is not for driving either. Just walking your dog. There was also trash all over and nobody keeps it clean. It's good for a short walk and that's about it.
I love this drive. I have taken it 30 or 40 times over the years. It crosses two reservations and two towns along US 212. Be careful because there are usually people walking along this high speed two lane. A few miles before Crow Agency you will go up over a beautiful pass. Be sure to pull over at the summit. There are gravel pull offs in either directions. I call it "Where the wind talks to the trees." Get out and walk among the lodge pole pine and feel the magic.
