Great year around trail. Not for the very young or the very old and not for someone not wanting a great work out as you enjoy the trail. The views along the trail will invite you back.Be sure to bring a camera binoculars as well as plenty of water Decided to combine a couple of trails for this outing, started at Jones Gap then took Rim of the Gap trail for a mile,a wire rope was used for a short climb then came to where Pinnacle pass starts.Decided to hike Rim of the Gap for another 2 miles enjoying the warm weather, went in June, and the great sights. At about 2.75 miles came to a connecting trail that took me to Pinnacle Pass Trail, which at this point was a small road. There was a camp sight,no fires, that was designated and continued on to a rock face to take a break.Great view at this point had small stream and could see Paris mountain in the distance. The trail then went from 3000ft to 500 feet over the next couple of miles and there was considerable overgrowth along the trail, saw a couple of snakes across the trail so be carefull where you step. After reaching the 500 ft level decided to retrace the trail to came back another day.Besides the snakes also beware I did see a large black bear.Luckily I was not worth any effort on her part.
