Walked this during a 100 mile section hike of the Palmetto Trail. After coming out of the swamp with the Swamp Fox Passage this was a welcome change. Take the extra spur trail and camp at the Sandy Beach Camp Site, best camping in the 100 miles we completed.
This is a good trail for viewing wildlife, but some parts lose the signage and is hard to tell which way to go.
This is an okay section of the Palmetto Trail. There is a great amount of flat walking but be warned that about 4 miles is walking through paved roads where there can be quite a bit of traffic. Nice view of the lake and canals.
This is a great mountain bike ride. It is not difficult but great views of swamp, the lake, and almost always see alligators, deer, turkeys, and bald eagles. Be sure to take the side trail to Sandy Beach. Wear orange during hunting season.
