Outstanding waterfall, challenging trail This a great little workout, a bit much for the toddlers but okay for the pre teen crowd. The hike starts uphill and stays that way for a good while. There are some flat stretches mixed in abd a couple stream crossings. Being this short the hike reaches the falls before your to tired to enjoy the falls and they are beautiful. You can cross at the base of the falls and hike up the trail on the other side for a great pinic spot. The water was high on this date and we decided to climb up the cables to the upper part of the falls, look for larkspur on the river banks, they were blooming on New Years eve when we went. A great workout with an awesome payoff. Enjoy, See you on the trail
Tough hike but well worth it!! Only thing to watch out for is a few branch offs that are not trails. Just pay close attention to the markings and you will be good to go!
Tough climb - beautiful falls!!
It seems to be straight up! There were a few level places to catch your breath but don't expect a smooth trail either. There are boulders, trees, roots and such to manage. Definitely worth it!! Allow two hours to make it to the falls, have a short picnic and hike back.
This trail was amazing. It's properly marked and not hard to follow. It is very steep at certain points. Great overall trail.
Pretty steep at the beginning but my 4 year old son had a blast maligning it to the falls.
pretty nice. a few slick spots but worth the hike!
Trail was very hard, not pretty landscape but beauty of waterfall makes it worth it!
Kicked my butt a little but was definitely worth it. Pay attention for the purple trail marks. There are a couple of spots where you could miss them. Overall five stars!
Great waterfall. Definitely challenging though. Worth it and would definitely recommend.
Amazing waterfall, well worth the pretty much all up hill hike, coming down just made me realize how steep it was I hiked up! Good leg work out!
It was ok. I've done this trail before, probably about 10 years ago so my memory was fuzzy on the difficulty. I've been hiking with another organization and when I saw the trail was "moderate" I thought ok, let's go and bring out 2 ½ year old son with us. ... ... Won't be doing that again, he is used to hiking but that was a tad bit too difficult for him. We had to carry him up and down almost the entire time.
We will be bringing a friend to hike here when he gets back from Germany.
Great waterfall. Trail is marked with purple markers which were helpful to stay on right trail. We did lose the trail once so make sure you follow the marks on the trees. We did this hike with our dog, 7 yo, and 2 yo on my husbands back. Small parking area at trailhead. No bathrooms at trailhead. Well worth the hike. We do think it was more than 0.95 miles each way. The trailhead stated it was 1.2 each way which seemed more accurate.
This was my first strenuous trail. Decided to really push myself by starting on the hospital rock trail. That really got my blood pumping all the way to the first waterfall crossing. Kinda got confused with the trail and thought I had to go up, but realizing that was just a little too difficult I then then discovered the actual trail. Much easier ha. Portion between the falls was pretty manageable. It got strenuous again right at the huge falls, but that view was incredible. In essence I did the falls trail downhill which can be intimidating. 10/10 would risk my life again for the waterfalls!
As many others have already said, yes it is pretty much all up hill. There are roots and loose ground, a few rocky areas to scramble through/over around but nothing horrible.
Waterfall is amazing and well worth the effort.
