Rocky New England Woodland featuring a WWII Memorial to a bomber crash site, an abandoned 1940's Boy Scout Camp with views o Providence and the upper bay and a rock quarry with a perennial waterfall. The Wolf Hill Forest Preserve is among my top 10 favorite hiking areas in Rhode Island. There are eight trails traversing the preserve that offer you an option of trail lengths from 2 to 6 miles. This wooded trail can be rocky with elevation gains of about 200 feet. Trail can be obtained at the Conservation Center of Waterview Drive.

Four of us ventured out looking for a new place to hike. This area is very well marked and very lightly trafficked. Nice place for sure even in December. Would love to come back in the Fall for the foliage. Dog friendly, kids not recommended. What everyone mentions is true, use the directions from AllTrails, as Google will bring you to a driveway. It's right next to the Smithfield Police Station.

Nov 2016: this hike is adequately challenging for relatively active people but not so much that we couldn't enjoy our afternoon outing.

The trails are well maintained and well marked. We were able to get up and back in two hours, even with missing one turn.

DIRECTIONS ON GOOGLE MAPS: if you search Wolf Hill Forest Preserve, and it takes you to Farrar Lane, that's a PRIVATE driveway. Use the directions in this app instead or look for the Smithfield Police Station and go up Waterview Drive.

This trail was great! Amazing views, not to easy, not to hard. Perfect terrain if you like a bit of a challenge. You'll be sure to encounter more than a few puppies, too! I've only done a few trails, and this is definitely my favorite.

An amazing trail with lots of things to see and experience. It isn't too hard on the legs and parking is available. I absolutely recommend this trail for anyone looking for a great memory.

This was a great trail for anyone looking to do something with moderate difficulty and a good length. Trails were very easy to follow and there was a decent amount of offshoot trails to try or take on future trips to keep it interesting. Dog friendly!!

My dog, Reggie, enjoyed it. No mosquitos today. Hilly, but not difficult.

Went on Sept. 10th for the first time to this trail and I have to say that it has a nice mix of easy to moderate inclines (more easy). If you go off trail there is opportunity to keep most of your hike on the moderate to hard levels.

More than one person noted, watch out for mosquito's, true. I am not a fan of bug spray but you will need it on this one. Bring some ketchup as well since you will be eating a number of them too :)

Trails are well marked, green appears to be "the" difficult level.

Light snacks and 1 to 1.5 liters of water should do the trick for this experience. Save the tents, flint, and sirloins for another day.., another trail.
