Canonchet Brook Preserve Trail is a 3.3 mile out and back trail located near Hopkinton, Rhode Island that features a great forest setting. The trail is rated as moderate and primarily used for hiking, walking, and trail running.
A winding trail through mixed hardwood forest, mountain laurel, historic foundations, and glacial erratics. The trail starts at the parking area off North Road and descends downhill along a trail lined with mountain laurel. The trail crosses a small stream. The trail soon passes by some historic stone foundations on the left. The trail turns north eventually crossing Canonchet Brook and heading toward Stubown road. Follow the yellow trail blazes in order to stay on the correct route. Canonchet is one of the largest natural areas in southeastern New England. This preserve adds a link to a chain of protected lands. To the east is the State of Rhode Island's Rockville Management Area, and to the west is Connecticut's Pachaug State Forest.
