250 acre area, lots of trail options, runs along the Wood River, part of the abandoned railroad runs through it, Plain Pond is in the middle of it all. Plenty of loops and various terrain to explore
loved. Theres a lake to cool off in and an Historical cemetery that happens to have distant ancestors of mine.
Nice trail for beginners and moderate hikers. Loved the surprise of finding a Civil War era family cemetary. Took some pics of gravestones then looked up info on the family there. Fascinating. Kind of hard to follow loop due to side trails, not marked well, but didn't get lost.
This made a pleasant, easy cold-winter hike for January. The trail is unblazed, but Weber's Weekend Walks in Rhode Island sets out the path.
It really would be great if we could have more of the rail bed available to us.
