Yough River Trail - Whitsett to Layton is a 2.2 mile point-to-point trail located near Perryopolis, Pennsylvania and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, horses, and mountain biking and is best used from March until November. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail.
Near Washington's Grist Mill in Perryopolis. (2 miles) Just up the hill from the Layton trailhead is the Washington Grist Mill. George Washington purchased 1,600 acres here in 1769 where he built a grist mill and distillery. This section of trail features two sets of mile markers. The original P&LE markers measuring rail miles to Pittsburgh and the new plastic Great Allegheny Passage merkers for trail miles to Cumberland.
