I'm here now. Drove 55 min to get here. I must have parked in the wrong area because this place SUCKS!!! Trails r very limited. The one fall we were able to get to has hardly anywhere that you can get a good view. And the water has the awful weed in it...milfoil...that has been recently transmitted to our lake, Lake Winola, and it takes thousands n thousands to treat it. I rate this a big fat ZERO.
We actually went down to the stream and walked the rocks to the falls it was excellent we even saw a snake.
Ok. Pretty short and not marked very well but very nice wooden step area to a gorgeous stone ledge looking out over waterfall. Grown in a bit too.
The falls are fantastic. The trail is overgrown and a little confusing but the falls are so scenic it deserves the fourth star.
Very nice short hike. This is not a hiking destination, as the trail is less than a mile long; it's more of a scenic destination. The trail is not well maintained, but it is very usable. We followed the trail using the map on All Trails, which made it pretty easy to follow. The falls are beautiful, and well worth the trip. To get here, if you are heading east on Route 6, park in the lot on the right just before the bridge. When you pull into the lot, the trail head is directly in front of you. After you complete the trail, drive east on Route 6 and turn right onto Brooks Rd. immediately after going over the bridge. It's only about 100 yards from the parking area. (There's no street sign, but there is a sign for Shohola Falls Cabins.) Drive down Brooks Rd. about 1/4 mile and there will be another parking area on your right, right by the dam. There is a trail that follows the river, and this is where the view of the falls is the most spectacular. It's also where the trail is the most slippery - be careful! We really enjoyed our visit here, and are looking forward to returning.
The Falls are great ,, Can be slippery though ,, be careful !! all in all a nice trail , Good for a quick picnic near the Lake Dam !!
Fun trail. The falls are great. We got caught in the rain right when we found a way down to the river ahead of the falls. Ended up drenched, but enlivened.
Falls are nice, but the trail is poorly maintained. Our way was blocked by a tree and the hike ended up being 0.7 miles only.
The falls themselves are beautiful and definitely worth the trip. The terrain around the falls trail is very very slippery. I almost fell into the creek after the falls and I don't usually fall while hiking. We wanted to hike the loop trail around the lake, but it was too grown in. The trees were constantly hitting us in the face, it wasn't kept up with.
