17 Amazing waterfalls along a steep but well-maintained trail Have good footwear for this one...It's often wet and slippery even though the trail is maintained in excellent condition. A personal favorite, this hike is a simple loop that takes you past most of the falls in Ricketts Glen State Park. We do this loop when camping at the park because it's an easy walk to the trailhead (about a mile each way from most of the campsites). Start at the sign and follow the trail. Turn right when the trail splits and follow the signs to the Falls Trail. You'll shortly see your first waterfall. There is a bridge at "Waters Meet" that you need to cross where the two streams merge - although it's not the halfway point, it is where you'll start heading uphill instead of downhill. Follow the trail up and, if you'd like, you can take the shortcut to the Highland Trail when you see the sign. The Highland Trail will take you back, after passing through the "Midway Crevasse", to the Lake Rose parking lot.
Nice easy walk
The Falls Trail is closed for the season between November and April. I made the mistake of driving three hours to hike a closed trail. I should have checked first.
The Cherry run trail is open though. A calm 10ish miles back and forth
Diverse terrain... some bouldering if you want to explore the awesome rock formations just off the start of the Falls Trail (definitely DO have fun on the rocks for a bit), the descent is easy, just slippery, so watch your step and bring proper footwear & always have a hold on something if climbing around the Falls. The ascent gets steep... felt like constant lunges at points, but I have long legs and wide strides are my default and downfall with climbing. Great workout throughout the hike... loved it! Of course the Falls are breath taking! Next time I'll make sure to go after some rain so I can see the Falls in their full glory. It had been pretty dry when I went, so my photos didn't quite look like what I had seen of friends' who had done it.
One of the best hikes in PA
lots of beautiful waterfalls and enormous trees
easy walking trails
Great views. Tons of waterfalls
Really beautiful. The path is pretty wet on the way.
slippery areas, definitely wear appropriate shoes. kids wanted to rurn back after 2.5 miles lots of great views and falls
Pretty intense trails and beautiful waterfalls. Would definitely return again!!
I was so impressed with this trail. The beauty of the waterfalls and how well the trail was maintained made this hike one of the best I've done. We started at the parking by Rt. 118 with a few cars. The only downfall of this hike were the crowds. There were so many people that it made it a challenge to go up and down. The trail can be very slippery in areas; so proper hiking shoes are ideal.
My recommendation would be to start as early as you can. Overall, this was a beautiful trail and I am already planning on going back. Enjoy!
Loved it!!!! Ready to do it again!
If you love waterfalls, this is the place to be.
