Waterfalls, Streams, Ravines, Farm Fields, Extensive White Pine & Hemlock Forest This trail was meant for horseback riding but I found it to be an excellent hiking trail as well. What makes this hike is the solitude, Length, Climbs, and Variety of forest types. The Topo map I made has numbers on it. The numbers represent trail posts. On the post there are numbers and arrows showing which way the trail goes. They are usually placed at trail crossings. For the most part there are very little trail markers except in areas were the trail can get confusing. Then there are small round markers with the horseback riding symbol. The entire loop I did was incredible you will pass through old Farm Fields, Deep Hemlock Ravines, White Pine Forest and craggy rock outcrops. You will pass views of the Delaware River and the Kittatinny Ridge in NJ. What made this loop peaceful is the fact that it is hidden. It weaves through many ravines and Valleys were the sunlight does not shine bright. For maps use the Milford USGS Quad and call the Park.
Amazing trails, even though I wish they were kept more of a secret than they are. However, it is very rare that you will pass anyone on these trails to begin with. Trails are poorly marked, but they will all get you back to a road regardless. The gravel Zimmerman Road headed up the mountain has been returned to it's natural state up to the second culvert. Lots of time and effort was put into the cutting of trees from these trails by someone after Hurricane Sandy, so they are all clear aside from an occasional fell.
Fabulous place to ride. Rode about 11 miles in mostly a varied loop. Fabulous runs, obstacles, hills. Great trail.
