Great hike for local hikes! Gives a good view of the city of Ashland!

This description listed is wrong. This is not a loop, it's an out and back and it is about 3.6 miles total. Uphill the whole way back. That being said, as long as you are prepared for a good hike with gorgeous views, this is great.

One of my favorite "backyard" hikes! I love that I can be deep in the mountains 5 minutes from home!!

Decent trail. Well-maintained path. Very well marked. Unfortunately, I've gotta say this trail is not worth the trip. We went on a bright Saturday morning and found the trail packed with people and dogs. The wooded areas are freshly thinned with compost stacks everywhere--not appealing at all. The views of the Valley and Ashland below are neither plentiful nor really that impressive. Bottom line: If this trail is in your backyard, it makes sense to visit for a quick stretch. If it is your destination, there are better places to go.

Awesome amount of didn't trails from running to biking to hiking. The trail head parking area can be a challenge to find if you are new to the area. We Google mapped Ashland loop road to finally find it. worth it one you get there the dirty road heading up its narrow and busy.
