Although the cooling tower has been imploded you will still be picnicking next to an old nuclear facility. The nuclear site has not been in operation for almost 20 years now. In 1993 the facility was shut down and by 2007 most of the buildings including the massive cooling tower had been demolished. This was all brought about by public distaste for the plant and despite millions and millions being spent by PGE to keep it operational it was closed down for good. So, it's completely safe now to bring the family here, even to fish from the nearby 29-acre lake. Before or after visiting the park head north the Prescott County Park Beach for some volleyball or horse shoes.
