South Silver Falls at Silver Falls State Park is a 2.2 mile loop trail located near Silverton, OR that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round.
It's $5, and you'll park in a huge lot.
Silver falls state park is amazing.

make sure to visit all the waterfalls- South and North loop- to get the most out of this hike, they are all beautiful! took about 5 hours including lunch and picture breaks to hike through it all.
Nice easy hike with our dogs Thunder and Ukiah. We took the Rim Trail which is pretty much the only trail at Silver Falls State Park that allows pets. We started at the South Falls and worked our way to the Stone Circle. From there, we took the Rim Trail. The Rim trail is ok not much to see until you reach the Upper North Falls trail. At the junction, leave the Rim Trail and hike .2 miles on the Upper North Falls trail until you reach your destination. If you take the Rim Trail, the Upper North Falls is the prize at the end. Nice view of the falls! It was a warm summer day so there were a lot of hikers coming and going.
My husband and I hiked from Upper North Falls to the Upper South Falls. It was a beautiful day and a great hike. This hike took us about 5hrs including rest stops and photo stops. You definitely want to be in good shape to walk this whole loop but is well worth it. You catch all but one water fall this hike.
views are amazing
Great little hike and dog friendly. I highly recommend the 8.7 hike around all 10 waterfalls.
Loved this hike and the view was awesome. Super easy too!
great walk if you go early before the crowds
Very icy today. Part of the trail was closed. Had to adjust and take another trail. Very crowded, but park fee was waived today.
Great hike with awesome views. Easy, except for steep and slippery portions. Wide maintained trail throughout.
Absolutely beautiful. Even with the extremely low rainfall this year, it was still a wonder to visit. Moderate climb up out the southern falls canyon area. Was puffing a bit with my asthma but I seemed to be the only one. Will visit again a thousand times.
This is truly the “crown jewel” of the Oregon State Parks system, I spent the day hiking with my brother Dan. Silver Falls State Park is a standout scenic treasure that puts Oregon onto the national — and international — stage in terms of parks. Its beauty, boundless recreational opportunities and historic presence keep it there. Nestled in the foothills of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, less than ½ an hour east of the state capital of Salem, Oregon, the sprawling 9,200 acre property is the largest state park in Oregon, and one of the most popular. Everyone can enjoy this, they Silver Falls, families, couples, individuals, young, old and even those in wheel chairs. Don't miss this if you are heading to Oregon!
We hiked this trail 10 + times last summer. We like the lower south falls better. We have four children ages 2-12. The 2 year we mostly carry in a backpack, but the other 3 children have no problems at all. If you like water falls, this is the place to go. Once you get on the trail past the upper south falls it's not as crowded.
If you love waterfalls, this is the trail for you. There's a lot of options to make the trail many different distances (2ish miles, 5.5 miles, 8-9 miles). The waterfalls are very well-spaced and a-plenty, so you don't get bored. Just a heads-up to dog owners: no dogs allowed on the trail.
