Mount Scott Trail is a 4.2 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Chiloquin, OR that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible from May until September.
A fun ascent of Mt. Scott, the highest point of Crater Lake. You'll have amazing views of the lake below.
Great moderate trail with outstanding views of Crater Lake, Mount Shasta and the Klamath Valley. Trail is moderate going up the entire way with a few steeper switchbacks near the top. Top is a great spot for lunch before heading down. Hike is closer to 5 miles round trip. We also hiked Mt Garfield and Watchman. I would rate Scott and Garfield as a close 1 and 2.
This is a pretty great trail. It has switchbacks, forests, big rocks to climb on and fantastic views of crater lake and the entire area. If you only have the stamina for one hike in the area this is the one you should do. The hike itself was not too bad and there were a fair amount of people who weren't in the best of shape at the summit which is marked by a cool lookout building. My favorite part of the trail was looking at the trail from the top and seeing how it winds around the mountain. The view of lake is great and it makes this trail worth doing.
Beautiful hike! The views from the summit were amazing!
It gets steeper as you approach the summit. Bring water. Wonderful views from atop.
Steady incline which was nice, wonderful views, well worth the hike
Fantastic hike to a great overview of crater Lake
It started snowing on us very beautiful scenery!
Pretty awesome panoramic views of crater lake
Did this trail right after Mount Garfield. The trail starts out easy and gets harder and steeper as you go. Roundtrip time a little over 3h. Great views on Crater Lake as well as into the Klamath basin and surrounding mountains. Highest Mountain around Crater Lake. Definitly worth hiking!
Bring good shoes and some water. Sun protection recommended (forgot that so I had to be quick to get out of the sun fast :-)
Perfectly clear fall day with great panoramic vistas.
Wonderful view of Crater Lake!
Pretty easy hike up to the top. Well worn trail with long range views. You can also frame Crater lake in a single camera photo (without using panorama).
This was my highest altitude run to that point in all of my trail running. took it slow, around 1hr roundtrip. Weather changed 4 times - from hot-no-wind, to thunder-storm, to hail, back to hot.
exhilarating. would do again. only wish that it were a longer trail, the views were distracting to the point of ankle-twisting ;) !
