There are plenty of opportunities to catch your breath and watch the oak prairie wildlife around you. Marsh harriers glide over the field, watching for unsuspecting mice and frogs. Butterflies abound during the late spring, as the weather dries out and the flowers bloom. Through most of the trail, a dirt path runs parallel with the paved, offering a choice of running or biking surfaces.
