Hatfield Marine Science Center Estuary Trail is a 1.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Newport, Oregon that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible year-round.
TRAIL USE ETIQUETTE Please DO: -Stay on the trail. -Access tide flats only at designated spots to protect fragile vegetation. -Be aware of the incoming tide. -Park in designated areas only (Oregon Coast Aquarium, Sea Lion Lot.) -Learn about the Yaquina Bay Estuary. -Enjoy!
Super easy, interpretive trail (educational signs along the way.) Probably wheelchair accessible. Very short. Scenic views of Yaquina bay and estuary wildlife. Many birds to see and if you're lucky you might encounter a bird of prey hunting in the marsh or a seagull dropping clams on the hard mud to crack them open.
