An amazing gorge hike with several beautiful waterfalls, including one you can walk behind. This trail begins at Eagle Creek Campground and ends at Wahtum Lake. This is a nice out and back hike with great scenery of waterfalls, ferns, and rocky outcroppings. It's quite popular with easy vehicle access at the trailhead, so plan to see a lot of other hikers and is part of the Pacific Crest Trail. This hike is not far from Portland and is best in the spring or early summer to really appreciate the beautiful waterfalls.

Great hike from the trailhead to Tunnel Falls. The view is the same, except for the various falls that are passed. Quick short trails down to Punch Bowl Falls, but lots of people. Some narrow segments on cliff edges, but not dangerous unless shaky or wild. Tunnel Falls is the highlight—much more so than Punch Bowl in my opinion.

This is definitely a hike to put on your bucket list. One of the best hikes I have been on in the state. Has picturesque views of numerous falls and the river the entire hike to Tunnel Falls, App 14 miles round trip. Has some areas that require careful footing on cliff edges but does have cable support to hold onto while walking the edge. To avoid the crowds go on a week day and start early.

Hiked 13 miles from Lost Lake to Indian Springs on the PCT, spent the night at the campgrounds then 12.5 miles down Eagle Creek Trail to Cascade Locks. A great hike. the map here shows the trail going to Wantum Lake. if you want to make it a thru hike (instead of out and back) leave your car at the EC trailhead in Cascade Locks and get a ride to Wantum. Not much water in the upper elevations so plan to carry what you need. See pics on my Instagram @jamieonthetrail

Alot of nice waterfalls!! Not a kid friendly hike due to many cliffs.

GPS showed a 7 mile hike to Tunnel Falls from trail head and trail sign states 6. I highly recommend this to anyone but it might not be advisable for young kids with pent up energy due to narrow trails with steep slopes.

Arrived fairly early due to reports of heavy traffic. parked at 8 and were only 4 other cars. Started up at 8 at a fairly quickly pace. We were astounded by the beauty in the first mile, hearing that it's a regular freeway later in the day, I wasn't expecting pristine trails. we ventured down all the designated paths to the viewpoints and they were worth the extra walk. The Falls (all 6 of them) were spectacular. the basalt cliffs, the changing flora, and the approachable incline contribute to making this one of my favorite hikes ever! We loved tunnel Falls but continued on about 1/4 of a mile to a beautiful area atop another Falls that made a perfect lunch spot on a rock in the middle of the creek. Our round trip was 14.5 miles in 5 hours. 1700 feet elevation gain but not. steep.I recommend this to anyone of moderate fitness. No panoramic views but the Falls and forests will delight. Get there early. locals hike in to the punch bowl to swim in their suits and flip flops by the hundreds after noon.

Awesome hike, but treacherous. It was worth it though. We hiked to Tunnel Falls, Punchbowl Falls and Twightlight Falls.

This place is beautiful!! The bridge just after punch bowl falls is out but can easily be crossed just under it. I took my 10 year old daughter all the way to tunnel falls with no problems, just wear good shoes. Tunnel falls is amazing and worth the trip!!

Great...on a rainy, cold weekday. Hardly anyone was on the trail. Reminded me of Summer's past when hardly anyone ventured into the gorge. Don't do this on the weekends if you don't like crowds. Great hike though you do feel like your going in circles upwards. The view really only changes when a waterfall appears. Push on to tunnel falls. It's worth the 13 miles RT.

Awesome views. Some sketchy areas on the trail but well worth it. The punch bowl is well worth the time and visit.
