This is a seldom visited yet amazing natural area for bird watching just north of downtown Portland. You can follow a short path north along the road for views over a wetland towards Bybee Lake or follow a path through the woods south along the northeast edge of Smith Lake. But, the best trail is the paved Interlakes Trail that brings you out onto a spit of land to two viewing platforms where you can watch for various bird species including nesting Bald Eagles at the site.

Great in the Spring and Fall, lots of bird watching, turtle nests, fish. Fun for kids too.
