Columbia River Gorge Trail is a 7.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Cascade Locks, Oregon that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from May until October.
Nice uphill hike with a lovely lookout option (must do!). Highway noise from below subsides about 1/2 way up.
the car/truck/train noises really took a lot away from the hike. if you like back country hiking, you don't want to do this trail. it was fine for hiking with my 11 yr old.
A couple things you should know:
The signs for this trail are "400 Gorge Trail", and are much smaller than other signs.
This trail is long, mostly flat, and has the freeway roaring away next to it for 90% of the trail, BUT, you can take it all the way (3.5 miles) to an EPIC waterfall, OR you can turn off onto an unmarked trail that goes pretty much straight up the mountains and turns into a very technical climb with amazing views.
Do depending on what you decide to do, this could be a 2 star trail or a 5 star, up to you.
