great view at the top
We took this one mile loop to warm up our legs for the longer Big Tree hike we took afterwards. To get to the actual trail you have to start at the visitors center and hike about .3 miles to get there. The actual elevation gain in this loop trail is about 400 feet. So be prepared for a little workout. The interpretive signs were very informative and there is one point on the trail that has a great view of the terrain to the north. We came face to face with a deer that did not seem too worried about our presence.
